Single review by jay@thesoundofconfusion.co.uk
One of the great things about having the chance to write and listen to new music, is the sheer quality and depth of it out there. Every now and again someone sends you a sparkling little gem that makes your day. Florida duo TIDEUP's single ‘'A Dance In The Dark' is one of these shining moments. It starts on a sublime, The xx style seductive beat and a perfect guitar layers over those beats. Then we are lead to the bewitching vocals of Noelle.
Her voice is achingly beautiful. There are slight touches of a restrained Florence Welch, but more than that it is a thing of effortless wonderment. And the music that encases it is no less graceful and refined. Soon the vocals soar into the ether and you are simply entranced. But this is no wistful serenade, 'A Dance In The Dark' is dynamically rich and encompassing. Pulsating, throbbing bass drives alongside rarefied, regal synths to close the song out. A delightful taste of the album to come, that's my day made.
