Indiepop fans will no doubt be pleased to hear of the return of Los Angeles cult heroes The Black Watch who this week release their first new album in three years. Formed in the late '80s, 'The End Of When' will be (we think) their eighteenth LP. Get a free taster in the typically timeless and classic sounding track 'Meg'.

Black Taxi - The Runner
From the city that's known for its yellow cabs, Black Taxi reference London's equivalent on this new single and lead track from their new EP 'Chiroscuro' which is out this week. Since forming in 2007 the band have made real headway into what their location is best at: mixing the sounds of indie with a more dance-type style, including plenty of funky new-wave on 'The Runner'.

Love Is A Burning Thing - Moves
Is it a bit presumptuous calling your debut album 'Greatest Hits'? Probably not, it's more than likely a bit of fun. That said, on its October release it will be the debut by Swedish band Love Is A Burning Thing, so at the moment it's presumably factually correct. It sounds like it could be an gritty and epic one, just have a listen to single 'Moves' for proof.

The High Wire - The Thames & The Tide
You never know quite what to expect from The Sound Of Confusion faves The High Wire, but this new free single has whetted our appetite for their upcoming new album. 'The Thames & The Tide' is a pretty, ballad-like song on occasion, but there's always that alternative element there and as they throw in a few sparkles along the way it becomes magical.

Stars - Wishful
Talking of The Sound Of Confusion faves... Canadian band Stars are a band we've been following for years and have been lucky enough to introduce them to a few UK fans who hadn't got wind of them yet. The band hit the road this autumn for an extensive tour and in celebration of this are releasing a 7" single of never released before tracks. 'The Light' is a top tune, as you'd expect, but we're going for 'Wishful' pipping it to the post. This dreamy, indie-type number bears all their classic hallmarks, particularly the always lovely vocals. They're often better when they venture into more ethereal realms like this, as it seems to add a little something even more magical to their sound.
