Five For Free #103

Permanent Collection - It's Alright

Jason Hendardy was formerly a member of Young Prisms but this week his new band Permanent Collection release their debut album 'Newly Wed, Nearly Dead', and lifted from it is free download 'It's Alright'. It's a track that will send your mind back to the early 90s with it's mix of shoegaze, grunge and alt-rock, but the San Franciscan gang pull it off pretty damn well.

Icons Of Andria - Land Of Relics

We've been featuring many tracks from dreampop band Icons Of Andria's set of free downloads. This is the sixth instalment and is called 'Land Of Relics'. By this point it just about goes without saying that this hazy and blissed-out piece of fantasy loveliness is simply superb. And remember to tell as many people as you can because when it hits 1000 plays the artwork turns to colour!

Free School - Time Breaks

This mysterious and wandering piece of electro-pop comes courtesy of Free School and is taken from their album 'Tender Administration' which is out now. The Birmingham duo have had favourable reviews and been compared to Caribou, Fuck Buttons and Walls. Free track 'Time Breaks' proves that these are worthy comparisons and Free School have the ability to become just as acclaimed themselves.

Sundress - California Dames

The brilliant White Iris Records come up with the goods once again. Sundress are a psych-pop band from Texas and 7" single and free download 'California Dames' is... well, let's look at the evidence: a band called Sundress, a song called California Dames, they're from Texas, they've stuck out this shimmering guitar-pop track in the middle of summer. Yep, this is as 100% sunkissed as you'd expect.

Taken By Trees - Dreams

Former Concretes singer Victoria Bergsman's current band Taken By Trees came to prominence a couple of years back with their Guns N' Roses cover. And that was a massive shame, because they'll be remembered for that song despite the fact that their own music is quite beautiful and doesn't deserve to be overshadowed that way. Grab the gorgeous 'Dreams' and get to know them properly.
