Ballerina Black - NTSB

Single review by KevW

As we recently mentioned, all this mixing rock-type music with dance-type sounds is taking over both the airwaves and the bandwidth of communications networks across the world. Therefore it's without the merest hint of surprise that we bring you this new track from Los Angeles band Ballerina Black. We're talking reference overload here. It's like these guys have taken your entire record collection and mushed it all into a deliciously thick and fruity smoothy. It's a tasty treat and it's packed with the good stuff, plus at over six (although it seems less thanks to their knack of boredom aversion) minutes of wholesome goodness, you're certainly getting your money's worth.

Here's your check list, and if you don't find a band here that you like then we pray that your teeny-bopper soul matures very soon: The Cure, New Order/Joy Division, Echo & The Bunnymen, Underworld, Stellastarr*, Giorgio Moroder, Radiohead, Blondie, Massive Attack, The Smiths, The Chemical Brothers, Depeche Mode... need we go on? The fact that the scent of so many other bands can be found on 'NTSB' pretty much proves that they're no plagiarists, more that they have decent taste in music and are happy to dissect the sounds they like and rearrange them into their own unique yet familiar concoction. Make ours a large, please.
