Single review by karla@thesoundofconfusion.com
Last year saw the online introduction of Great Good Fine OK with the drop of 'You're The One For Me', a track which reached number 1 on Hype Machine three times and has gone on to receive 500,000 SoundCloud plays in under half a year. 'Not Going Home' is the second track from this intriguing Brooklyn synth-pop duo who have so many adjectives for feeling alright/agreement in their moniker that we can't help but wonder whether it's a little bit tongue-in-cheek and lacking in sincerity. One thing we are definitely not questioning is the sincerity of the music.
'Not Going Home' comes at you with whizzing, celestial synth, layered staccato-esque rhythms, a quirky falsetto and honey-drizzled infectious, intoxicating melodies that should only be consumed in small doses for fear of the come-down from such a sickly sweet, optimistic high. Speaking about the track, the duo have said, “This [song is] about not taking chances on being happy and living your dreams. You've got to fight for it. This song means a whole lot to us and we couldn't be more excited to share it!” If you’re a fan of the likes of Grouplove, The Naked and Famous and Empire of the Sun, this could well be your new jam that gets you in the mood for Spring.
