Single review by KevW
It's very British to keep banging on about the weather, but with the past few months being so tits-up that records have been broken and the winter drought has given way to summer downpours that would have Noah feeling a little anxious, it's difficult not to wonder just what the heck is going on as more and more festivals get cancelled due to the likelihood of the crowds drowning in a quagmire of mud. Now the weathermen have changed their tune and the gods of Olympus are working their magic to ensure that the beach volleyball doesn't turn into water polo, what better way to usher in what promises to be a week or two of actual summer like they used to get in the olden days than with this sunkissed new track from The Vow.
The optimistically titled 'A Walk In The Sunshine' feels like a modern update of 'Here Comes The Sun' with its uplifting jangle and traditional pop melodies. This is guitar-pop of the variety that's been handed down from The Byrds, to Big Star, to Teenage Fanclub, to The Tyde and countless others. Irresistibly simple and effective, it's a timeless formula with an easy-going appeal that will be the perfect soundtrack to that one evening this year that you manage to get the barbecue out and some warm beers sunk. Just as enticing is the animation by Clifford Sayer that goes with it, which looks like Super Furry Animals artist Pete Fowler hooking up with the team behind Yellow Submarine. Enjoy it while it lasts.
