Single review by KevW
The ever sensible MJ Hibbett & The Validators give us another free single from their incredibly sensible album about nuclear dinosaurs invading East Anglia. As ever the song is implausibly sensible, telling the tale of our hero, a young policeman named Darren, heading out to a farmhouse in his quest to defeat the evil space monsters, despite being told by his fiancée that this might not be the best idea. The story is sensibly set to an indiepop/folk soundtrack with plenty of sound effects and sensible accents, none of which take the mickey out of stereotypical Norfolk yokels.
The overwhelmingly life-like animation that accompanies the song takes in police cars, Spitfires, a photo from his beloved inscribed with the message "Try not to die", glow in the dark dinosaurs wearing suits of armour, basements haunted by giant ghosts, a Star Trek pastiche, killer sharks, superheroes being arrested and other such unbearably sensible occurrences. It's all very well but if they toned down the seriousness every now and then they could be on to something. I mean come on guys, lighten up a bit, yeah?
