Out This Week - 14th November 2011

The History Of Apple Pie - Mallory

London five-piece The History Of Apple Pie are included on a four-way split single which is released on Marshall Teller Records in December, but before then they release the early 90s alt. rock buzz of 'Mallory' as a single in it's own right. Stream the original, packed with melody and layered guitars, or get a free download of the ace 'Tom Furse Optimello Orchestra Mix' by hitting the arrow below.

Tycho - Dive

Californian Scott Hansen has been making music as Tycho for nearly a decade and this week sees the release of his fifth album 'Dive'. Taken from it is free download 'Hours' which has a glistening, chilled feel with ambient synths and a sturdy beat. The sun-drenched vibes and laid back groove are the perfect medicine if these short days are starting to get you down; an MP3 sized S.A.D buster.

Los Campesinos - By Your Hand!

The prolific guys and girls of Los Campesinos! put out their third album (fourth if you count 'We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed') 'Hello Sadness' this week. The Cardiff collective are letting us have 'By Your Hand' as a free sample. It's more of the intelligent guitar-pop we've come to expect, and its relatively straightforward style may help convert those who haven't been sure about them previously.

OBLIGATORY RECORD OF THE WEEK

Exitmusic - From Silence EP

Ticking many Zeitgeist boxes at once, Exitmusic are a duo, from New York and are husband and wife. Their first proper EP 'From Silence' is out on Secretly Canadian this week and is absolutely stunning. The vocals are chillingly beautiful and the lush waves of sound are spellbinding. From the towering 'The Modern Age' to the haunting beauty of 'The Hours' this pure ear candy. These are definitely on our tips list for 2012.
