Colleen Green - Rabid Love
Colleen Green comes
from Oakland, but she sounds like she comes from 1993. This track
from her new EP 'Cujo' sounds like a number of early 90s singles
released by the 4AD label. There's a definite hint of The Breeders
about 'Rabid Love', yet Green manages to make her music sound fresh
rather than a rehash. Noisy, melodic and under 3 minutes – like all
the best pop songs should be.Hit the arrow for a free download.

Givers - Meantime
Mixing up the styles
(not to mention the rhythms and the tempos over the course of a
single song) are Louisiana's Givers who
release their new album 'In Light' next week. This week, however,
sees the release of new single 'Meantime' which combines traditional
guitar-pop with Afrobeat influenced rhythms and a tropical tang. The
result is like less preppy Vampire Weekend, summery and fun.

Clock Opera have
also mashed their influences into a unique sound over the course of a
few independently released singles. Now signed to the ever reliable
Moshi Moshi label, they bring us the unsurprisingly wonderful and
inventive 'Lesson No. 7'. Expect many glowing reviews when they
release their début album.

Oberhofer - Gotta Go
19
year old Brad Oberhofer isn't
just ignoring the any talk of the death of guitar music (which is
nonsense by the way), he's doing his best to prove it has a future
and that he's a part of it. 'Gotta Go' is brilliantly wide-eyed and
energetic, it clatters along as if the whole thing is held together
with sellotape. Rest assured, guitar music is in safe hands. Yours for free below.

dEUS - Keep You Close
Arguably
the best band to come from Belgian soil, dEUS,
have had a fairly lengthy career, gaining much acclaim in the mid
90s, before taking a break for a couple of years in the 00s and
reforming with a changed line up. New album 'Keep You Close' is out
in the UK today (it reached gold status in Belgium on the day of
release) and shows that the ravages of time and a change of personnel
hasn't adversely effected their music. The album's grand, cinematic
title track shows they're still a match for the best bands the
current music scene has to offer.
