Get Me Free #148: Tacocat - I Hate The Weekend

Article by KevW

It's Friday, and as every week, every single repetitive week like clockwork, people will be taking to outlets like Twitter to proclaim joy that the working week is over and that they can go out and get totally slaughtered and do nothing the next day. Not Seattle's Tacocat though, who correctly observe that groups of "homogenized" people will be using this to act like slobs and be "screaming in our streets". This may make them sound like party-poopers, but there are few things more annoying than hordes of overly drunk people acting like idiots, getting into fights and leaving vomit and urine all over the place. Ask anyone who's worked in A&E over a busy weekend.

Surely there are better ways to have fun? There are, and listening to this bracing blast of melodic punky goodness is one of them. You'll remember it afterwards, you won't end up with your mates plastering photos of you in an embarrassing state all over Instagram, and it won't give you a hangover. The track is taken from Tacocat's new album 'Lost Time' which is out in April, and it's full of razor-sharp guitars, bundles of energy and poppy hooks that ensure it will stick in your head for all the right reasons. Some might disagree with its sentiments, but you can't argue that it's a fresh and contagious tune that excites and invigorates. The total opposite of making a tit out of yourself really.
