Quickly Affair are becoming something to remember. A little while ago they seduced us with the sounds their last release, 'To Get', and now they are fulfilling us again with the entrancing pleasure of 'Bloodshot'. It has a sense of urgency, an edgier feel than 'To Get'. Underneath Kirsty's mesmerising voice is an echoing, crystalline counterpoint vocal that brings a sweet sensation of restrained drama. This compliments and enhances the song's sweeping, quietly epic climax.
The rich synths nod to electro-pop giants of OMD and Human League, all on a 'Scary Monsters...' undercurrent, but this is not retro retread and is startlingly now. As addictive as the taste of elixir poured by angels, 'Bloodshot' is another hit of near perfect, atmospheric, brooding electro-pop perfection. Please Affair, satisfy us again soon.
