Austin, Texas band Mini Dresses are still pretty new, having released their first couple of tracks as name-your-price downloads less than a week ago. A handful of tracks were recorded by the quartet over the summer and more sessions are planned for this winter. Our favourite so far is the sweetly sung, bleary-eyed dreampop of 'Post Office Girl' which makes great use of soft reverb.

Sic Alps - Glyphs
Last week saw Californian experimental garage band Sic Alps release their eponymous fifth album (to add to the dozen or so EPs, they're a busy bunch) and taken from it is free download 'Glyphs' which is almost like taking some floaty 60s psychedelia and putting it through a mincer so it comes out edible but not quite the same. So essentially their warped take on the genre.

Mat Gibson - Before The Dawn
London-based singer-songwriter Mat Gibson released his new album 'Long Goner' last week and rather than sounding urban and hectic like the city of its creation, 'Before The Dawn' brings to mind the vast and lush wilderness of North America. Gibson's gentle voice and harmonies will appeal to anyone who's bought records from the Bella Union label or are fans of superbly realised Americana.

The Sea And Cake - Harps
The latest album from Chicago's The Sea And Cake hits shops this week. It's called 'Runner' and they kicked of the album's campaign with the release of single 'Harps' which is one of the most accessible tracks they've recorded so far. That makes it no less wonderful, in fact this brilliant piece of dreamy electro/indie is one of the best songs we've heard from them.
