Five For Free #113

Turbo Fruits - Harley Dollar Bill$

Some cracking freebies for you as ever, this time we're starting with Nashville garage-punk band Turbo Fruits (formed by former Be Your Own Pet man Jonus Stein) who've just dropped their new album. Well they're bound to drop it because it's called 'Butter' (sorry). Anyway, you can sample the delights they have in store for you by checking out 'Harley Dollar Bill$'.

Young Buffalo - Nature Boy

From Oxford (one of the US ones, not Radiohead country) are Young Buffalo who will soon release their new eponymous EP which is made up from a multitude of alternative music ingredients and could appeal to anyone who's ever liked records by Animal Collective, Vampire Weekend or the Brooklyn experimental scene. Grab free track 'Nature Boy' and hear for yourself.

Helvetia - RyBro

They may be named after Switzerland (Helvetia being the female name for the Alpine country) but these slack-rockers are actually from Seattle and put out new album 'Nothing In Rambling' this week to coincide with a big US tour supporting Built To Spill. We know who we'd rather see out of the two, and free download 'RyBro' will tell you why it's Helvetia.

Mining Boom - PDA

Moving down under to Perth, Western Australia, we find a pretty exiting new band called Mining Boom who play straightforward, slightly lo-fi garage rock, but they have that killer ingredient: good tunes. There's a cassette EP available called 'Dining Room' which you can also download, plus there's plenty more to come. For starters though, here's 'PDA', yours for nothing.

Lili Haydn - Tyrant

With commonly used phrases such as "dreampop", "shoegaze", "garage", "lo-fi", "electronica", "psychedelic" and "indiepop" cropping up regularly on this site, it's a pleasure to introduce Lili Haydn as a singer, violinist and composer. Yep, she's a bit of a virtuoso with heaps of plaudits and major live performances to her name, but we couldn't resist the choppy alt-pop of her new track 'Tyrant'.
