Five For Free #60

Bright Moments - Tourists

Good morning Brooklyn! Multi instrumentalist Kelly Pratt is the brains behind alternative pop band Bright Moments and in the past he's worked with an impressive list of people including David Byrne, St Vincent and Arcade Fire. Equally impressive is their music, as shown on soon to be released album 'Natives'. Taken from it is the horn-laden indiepop of 'Tourists'.

Dunes - Jukebox

Also creating off-kilter indiepop - this time a little more frayed around the edges - are L.A's Dunes, the second band to form from the ashes of punk group Mika Miko (the other being Bleached). The trio are about to release their debut album 'Noctiluca' which is less punky and more melodic than the former band, but equally ramshackle. Check out free track 'Jukebox'.

Colleen Green - Goldmine

Keeping things fuzzy with her new album 'Milo Goes To Compton' is prolific indie-rocker Colleen Green. The album is released on the Art Fag label whose previous releases include Dum Dum Girls, Best Coast and the aforementioned Bleached. Mix those bands together and you'll have a pretty good idea of what excellent free track 'Goldmine' sounds like.

Tigercats - Full Moon Reggae Party

Back on home soil, London band Tigercats are doing a good job of keeping off-kilter indiepop fresh and original with this track from forthcoming new album 'Isle Of Dogs'. 'Full Moon Reggae Party' will probably draw a few Vampire Weekend comparisons with its tropical flavour but Tigercats seem like a less preppy and more fun option, with a great blast of sun to lighten up the pathway into springtime.

Teenage Mary - Takes Its Toll'/'All My Love'

Carlisle quintet Teenage Mary are doing a grand job of making a name for themselves, having already bagged support slots with Arctic Monkey, The Lucid Dream and The Vaccines amongst others, and have also caught the ear of former Beta Band man Steve Mason. It's still early days for them though, with only four tracks recorded. Grab a couple below; the BRMC-styled scuzz-rock of 'Takes Its Toll' and the more laid-back psych-rock of 'All My Love'.
