The Black Keys - El Camino
Bluesy garage rock duo The Black Keys unleash their latest long-player 'El Camino' this week and it's already picked up some great reviews. It's nothing particularly ground breaking but they don't half make an excellent noise for two blokes with some guitars and drums. Check out the dirty rock 'n' roll of 'Sister' and the slow burning 'Little Black Submarine' (or 'Stairway To Heaven' as your Dad will call it).

Theme Park - Milk
Are you a fan of Talking Heads? If so this could go two ways. Either you will instantly fall in love with the indie-funk of Theme Park's new single 'Milk', or dismiss them as copyists and go and stick 'Stop Making Sense' on instead. Either way, this London quartet have been hotly tipped by many, so it might be a case of having to get used to them. For the record, we give them a thumbs up.

The Machine Room - Camino de Soda
Edinburgh dreampop quintet The Machine Room also bring a touch of funk to their thoroughly danceable new single 'Camino de Soda'. This track weaves a lush web using icy synths, expert beats and cowbells with a soft, warm vocal. It's energetic yet curiously relaxing at the same time. Remember the name because these guys could be ones to watch.

Patrick Wolf - Together
Eclectic folk/rock/pop/electronica/whatever songwriter Patrick Wolf releases his new 'Brumalia EP' this week which features 'Together' from recent album 'Lupercalia'. This track sees him in his lush, experimental pop guise and also sounding typically baroque. His records may be hit and miss and times but this is one of the good ones from one of the most interesting pop stars we have.

Tennis - Origins
As you've seen from our end of year lists so far, Tennis are pretty popular round these parts. January's debut album was full to the brim with stunningly pretty, fuzzy, surfy, lo-fi pop treats. The follow up is set to be released in February and is produced by The Black Key's Patrick Carney. As with their previous material, new single 'Origins' initially sounds nice, but doesn't stop getting better the more you play it, or according to our Scottish correspondent "Quite a Motown vibe to it I think, and a real liberated feel, like they're having fun. A pop song in the great tradition." We could be in for another superb LP in a few months time.
